Member Application

Season is a non-profit professional society established to advance the structural engineering profession. Its members are committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct. SEASoN encourages the free exchange of ideas and developments between structural engineers, architects, and other branches of engineering and industry

GOALS

1. Promote and establish ethical standards of professional conduct and business practice among structural engineers.

2. Provide a united voice to help promote proper legislation and codes relating to structural engineering.

3. Cooperate with and assist local building departments to improve plan check, inspection procedures, and local policies through standardization of requirements.

4. Provide comment and assistance in the establishment of local building codes.

5. Provide a forum for the discussion of current engineering topics and the free exchange of ideas among structural engineers.

6. Help to improve local construction practices and policies as they relate to structural engineering for the betterment of the public welfare.

7. Provide continuing education opportunities for structural engineers.

MeETINGS

General membership meetings are held from September through the month of May. The time and location of the meetings are announced on the website, www.seasn.org, and via email to members.

SEASoN MEMBERSHIP PROCESSING PROCEDURES

1. Anyone wishing to join SEASoN and meeting the requirements for any grade of membership may apply for membership. Initiation fee for processing of application is $25.00 (no charge for student members). Annual membership dues are $110.00 for all membership grades except students, $15.00 for students. The completed application and only payment for the initiation fee should be sent to the address listed on the membership application. Make checks payable to SEASoN. Upon approval of membership you will be invoiced a prorated amount of the dues for the remainder of the fiscal year.

2. Applications will be reviewed and approved by the board of directors.

3. Upon approval, the new member will be sent an invoice for the annual dues, notification of membership and a new member’s certificate.

4. Allow up to 90 days for processing.

MEMBERSHIP GRADES

Member SE: A Member SE in the Association shall be licensed as a Structural Engineer in the state of Nevada. A Member SE may vote and hold office, serve as director, committee chair or committee member within this association and may serve as director, officer committee chair or committee member for the Structural Engineers Association of Southern Nevada.

Member CE: A Member CE in the Association shall be licensed as a Civil Engineer in the state of Nevada. A Member CE may vote and hold office, serve as director, committee chair or committee member within this association and may serve as director, officer committee chair or committee member for the Structural Engineers Association of Southern Nevada.

Associate: An Associate Member at the time of admission to the Association shall have been regularly engaged for at least four years in the practice of Structural Engineering. Graduation from an accredited college or university may, in the opinion of the Board, be the equivalent of 4 years. An Associate member may hold no office and shall have no vote in Association matters.

Affiliate: An Affiliate Member shall, in the opinion of the Board, be qualified by reason of position to cooperate with the Structural Engineers in the advancement of professional knowledge, practice and welfare. An Affiliate shall have all the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member but may hold no office and shall have no vote. The number of Affiliates shall be limited to not more than 25% of the total membership, excluding Educational members.

Educational: An Educational Member is a senior or graduate engineering student majoring or interested in structural engineering who is enrolled full time in an accredited engineering school or college, or a full-time professor at same. An educational member may have all the privileges and benefits of a member but may hold no office and may have no vote.
